Sunset portraits are some of my favorite to shoot as a wedding photographer! Often referred to as Golden Hour, I always make sure to get some of these sunset portraits for my couples. The beautiful oranges pinks and golden glow is captivating. And the sky’s colors are so gorgeous during this time of day, no matter what season!

Sunset portraits are literally the best ten minutes of portraits you’ll get on your wedding day. Typically we’ll sneak out for 10 minutes during your reception (in-between events, of course!) or right after family formals to grab a few of these! Trust me, they are WORTH IT and are those dreamy, swoon-worthy photos you see all over Pinterest with the glowy lighting.

Take Time to Connect During Sunset Portraits

They also give you another chance to slow down and connect with each other, away from the chaos of your big day! On your wedding day, there are so many different things going on around you. It’s so important to take a few minutes to just the two of you.

What To Bring

When taking these portraits, I recommend grabbing your veil and bouquet. They will look so dreamy with the sunset lighting! And don’t worry if it ends up being overcast. I’ve had so many overcast and rainy weddings that end up having a beautiful sunset. Even if the sun isn’t peaking out, we might still sneak out for some extra portraits for variety! All you two have to do is show up and be an adorable couple in love… easy, right?! I’ll take care of the rest and we’re going to have a lot of FUN!
